What is a Reverse Mortgage

This is a short tutorial video regarding real estate finance options which can allow you to purchase a more expensive home for half the listing price.

The reverse mortgage for purchase is a relatively new version of the traditional reverse mortgage that offers buyers an opportunity to get into a new home for about half the cost. This type of mortgage doesn't require monthly payments, but must be repaid when the last homeowner dies or leaves the home permanently. Similar to reverse mortgages and traditional mortgages, the reverse for purchase does accrue interest over the life of the loan. This is typically offset by the appreciation of the property so that the heirs of the homeowners can either sell the home and pay off the reverse mortgage or pay off the reverse mortgage and keep the home.
