An average Kenyan will require a net income of over 1 million shillings annually to access a mortgage to buy a property valued at 4 million shillings. This is according to a joint survey on mortgage finance carried out by the World Bank and the Central Bank. The survey points to a worrying situation that perhaps answers the question why most Kenyan's still cannot afford to own a house despite a housing boom. Wanjiru Gaitho reports.
