According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, a net two-hundred-thirty-three thousand people entered the U.S. workforce last month, with the national unemployment rate dropping to three-point-eight percent. Both numbers were better than what was expected, and has left traders convinced that Federal Reserve will vote to raise the Fed Funds Rate at its next scheduled meeting, planned for the middle of next week. But just because the Fed might raise the Fed Funds Rate, that doesn't mean mortgage rates will rise as well. The Fed doesn't control mortgage rates. Wall Street does. And some of the forces that can lead to higher rates are present in this month's jobs report. More people working, lower unemployment, growth in wages. Which is why mortgage rates worsened to end last week.
