How to be Persuasive AF Mortgage Loan Officer Sales Training

I have a loyal follower on Instagram that reached out to me asking my opinion on a sales offer she had which delivered a great deal of savings, lowered the interest rate and paid off the term 12 years sooner, yet was still passed on due to the cost.

This morning I created TWO VIDEO, in the VIDEO ONE I answer Kristen’s question on how come even though with massive benefit the prospect would still turn your down for cost, and in VIDEO TWO I dive deeper into the Psychology of Selling by understanding the Consumer’s way of thinking and why consumers still pay premium prices for convenience and brand.

In both videos, I share with you how to sell convenience and benefit over costs and also how to better read and position yourself ‘per’ prospect.

So what will work and sell Mr. Jones, may not always be what works and sells Mrs. Jones and depending on your EQ level (Emotional Intelligence) you may not pick up on the subtleties that flag you which role that person plays and what peaks their interest while learning what pushes them away.

Dealing with two decision makers can be tricky if you’re unsuccessful at ‘reading the room’.

If you cannot pick up on their subtle clues given by choice of words, tone of voice, body language or reservation to communicate or make eye contact with you, you may not be positioned to even ask for the Sale, let alone make one.

It is important to know who at the table has the power to make the decision and it is not always  who you think it is, so you have to pick up on signs that will tell you and give you that energy of how they’ll think of you AFTER the pitch has ended.

So be sure that if you pick up on these negative vibes from one of the decision makers (borrowers), it is important to fix that right away and do not engage in an offer, negotiation or disclose pricing until that ‘underlying issue’ is resolved.

I believe that consumers as a whole make their buying decisions based on things outside of price, even though their wordplay, comments and requests will be centered around price, it is nothing more than a trained response.

It is how they ‘protect’ themselves and respond to 98% of the advertisements telling them about lowest prices, lowest rates, lowest costs, lowest, lowest, lowest…
So the next time you get a call from a prospect asking you for your ‘lowest’, do not take that as a ‘challenge’ take it as another way of saying “I need help and I don’t want you to take advantage of me….’.

I even share with you what we as humans do to protect our ‘status’ and how we can use that science into helping us persuade our message into being accepted.

Persuasion may have a negative light to some, but I believe persuasion is all around us, from the advertisements we see, the pop ups that we get, the offers we hear all being centered around a ‘best case’ scenario with ultrafine print disclosing that that offer is only meant and available for a very small pocket of consumers…

We also see Persuasion used with sexual pictures flaunting particular brand clothing and fast food restaurants that have been scientifically proven to be bad for your health offer playgrounds, happy meals and toys with their ‘unhealthy’ but ‘happy’ meals…

We’re no different and far from innocent as we ourselves persuade also.

We persuaded for our mates, our spouse to agree to commit their lives to us, to our children to listen to us, to our employers to hire us and keep us employed…we are constantly engaging and practicing PERSUASION.

When we understand we are all playing ‘the game’, we give ourselves a chance to PLAY, not watch or let happen.
